Our New Visual Identity

BC Rent Bank launched as a pilot initiative five years ago, and our mission to keep BC renters in their homes is at the heart of our work. When renters seek help from their local rent bank, they’re looking for solutions, support, and a friendly face to help them through a challenging time.

As a backbone organization supporting a province-wide rent bank network, BC Rent Bank provides our partners with more than funding – we also supply resources, training and technology to the 18 rent banks (and counting) in BC! At this important five-year milestone, we think it’s the perfect time to update our visual identity and website, so they reflect the deep connections and relationships our rent bank partners nurture every day with renters in BC.

“BC Rent Bank’s visual identity is centred around the concept ‘A ray of hope’.”
– Form Meets Function

We want our new look to instill a sense of safety, security and, above all, a hopeful future. Our new visual identity steers away from the cooler, formal colours of our previous aesthetic and instead uses warm, welcoming shades of orange and yellow, paired with muted blues.

Our updated logo has a clean design and clear message that aligns with our vision: a province where renters remain housed in moments of crisis.

To complement this new look, our website is a calming, easy to navigate, and accessible digital space, where finding key pieces of information is simple.

Our website ensures visitors get access to the support they need without getting bogged down trying to locate applications or contact information.

“We worked with BC Rent Bank to deliver a website that is well-organized, user-friendly, and accessible to all. Straightforward navigation, intentional hierarchies of information, and clear calls to action get visitors to the help they’re seeking faster.”
– Form Meets Function

It’s also important to us that the website remains an informational piece that talks about the progress of the BC Rent Bank project, the work of organizations across the province that we partner with, and the positive impact rent banks are having across the province.

We collaborated with Form Meets Function on this project, whose support and understanding helped us take a fresh look at our work and find the right words to communicate our intentions and impact.

“Talking to the team at Form Meets Function and then seeing how they took our story, our values, our vision and mission and interpreted those in new ways was really exciting.”
– Melissa Giles, Managing Director, BC Rent Bank

We also want to express our gratitude to our team, the staff at the Vancity Community Foundation (VCF), and their Communications, Marketing and Philanthropy team in particular, for all their insights, feedback and support with this project.

We’re immensely proud of our updated visual identity and website, and we hope they have a positive impact on your experience with us!
